Fun for all as museum celebrates

QUESTACON’S Earth Quest Exhibition will open in Bathurst tomorrow with a weekend of exciting activities to celebrate the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum’s fourth birthday.

This weekend, children under 16 will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

“It’s our birthday and we invite the public to celebrate with us,” public programs officer at the museum Penny Packham said yesterday.

“Our exciting program of activities means there is something for everyone.”

Tomorrow at 2pm Professor Warren Somerville will be at the museum to identify fossils and minerals, followed at 3.30pm by a floor talk with Dr Martha Gelin titled “T.rex Unearthed”.

On Sunday the Fizzics Science Show Awesome Air Fantastic Flight takes off with a bang from 11am to 1pm.

This is a show for children to discover the mysteries of a shooting vortex, an exploding balloon dog and much more in a mad science show.

Questacon’s Earth Quest - Outer Space to Inner Earth will be a voyage from the outer limits of the Milky Way through the solar system and into the very centre of the planet Earth.

The Earth Quest Exhibition will be at the museum from Saturday through until Monday, September 15.
