Bathurst’s University of the Third Age (U3A) will be offering two new courses this semester, in military history and beginners bridge. The new courses, as well as 18 continuing courses, commence on Monday, July 28 and run for six weeks.
The University of the Third Age is a learning community for those in active retirement - the so-called ‘third age’ of life.
The military history course will present a history of local contingents, and include a guided walk-through of the RSL museum. Those who attend the course will also be taught to access the website, so that they may check the service details of family members.
The bridge course is designed for beginners, and no partners are required.
U3A will also be running a series of four public lectures, running on Mondays at 11am from July 28 at Charles Sturt University’s Bathurst Campus.
The lectures will be given by past or present CSU staff and students, and topics range from the influence of Bing Crosby in an Australian context, to the community wind farm proposal for Bathurst.
Information about U3A courses and the CSU lectures, newsletters can be found at the Bathurst Information and Neighbourhood Centre and Bathurst City Library.
