VICTORY

8/09/2008 9:02:00 AM
IT was the win they had to have.

After a year none of their players or fans could forget, St Pat’s delivered departed club legend Dave Scott with the ultimate gift yesterday by taking out the Group 10 premier league grand final 19-12 over the Mudgee Dragons.

Spurred on by an address from Scott’s wife Liz before the game, a blistering first half from the Bathurst team ensured the premiership cup would return to Jack Arrow Oval for the first time since 2001.

The win marked the perfect end to the season for St Pat’s coach Kevin Grimshaw after earlier wrapping up the club’s first minor premiership in almost

20 years.

WE WON: Emotional and relived St Pat’s premier league players pictured with fans after their 19-12 victory over the Mudgee Dragon’s in the Group 10 rugby league grand final yesterday. The team took the title for the late Dave Scott, who was to have coached the side this year. Journeyman front-rower Wade Judd took out the first Dave Scott Medal for his man of the match performance.
