Former Stannies star takes time out to help the Dubbo Rhinos

The combined efforts of former Saint Stanislaus’ College first XV skipper Beau Robinson and Fijian import Aporosa Duwailea, as well as debutant five-eighth Alex Frail, provided the Dubbo Rhinos with the winning edge over Parkes Boars at Parkes on Saturday.

The Rhinos won their fourth match of the Central West Rugby Union season with a 40-5 victory after getting it together in the final 40 minutes.

Captain-coach Glen Gallagher said the addition of Waratahs’ Super 14 flanker Robinson on loan for the day was a great experience for all the players.

“Beau prepared for the game as he always does and everything he did was very professional,” Gallagher said of the former Australian Schoolboy representative.

“He didn’t score a try but set one up and played the full 80 minutes which was his intention.

“The rest of the forwards rallied behind him and his presence was particularly evident in the rucks and in defence.”

It looks as though Robinson’s debut for the Rhinos will only be a one-off game with him due to rejoin the Waratahs for training this week and club commitments for Sydney club Gordon if he isn’t needed by the Super 14 club.

“The Waratahs asked us to give Beau some football and naturally enough we were only delighted to do it,” Gallagher said.

“It was good for our players to see how he prepared for the game, during the game and afterwards and hopefully they picked up a few hints they can use for themselves.

“The other good thing about it was we had a good number of people go to Parkes from Dubbo and I would suggest our numbers were bigger than what the home team came up with.”

The Rhinos are now on 19 points and equal fifth with Orange City on the Central West Rugby Union competition ladder, two points away from Narromine and CSU Bathurst.
